Hengist Field Care Home residents enjoy sensory lights and hot chocolates

Sensory session

At Hengist Field Care Home we are lucky to have our own Cinema room on our Orca Unit, which is used for many a good movie afternoon.

We also use the room as a ‘sensory hide out‘, as it has dark painted walls and a snug feel which makes our residents feel very secure and cosy.

Some of our ladies and gents are unable to communicate, but can see clearly and enjoy lights moving and different sounds.

Rita and Pam recently enjoyed listening to rainforest sounds, with lights going around the room and glow stick to hold. They loved looking around the room seeing all the different projected colours.

We can’t say no to a hot choco!

Last week we enjoyed having our yummy hot chocolate trolley out for a spin!

All our residents had the choice of cream, marshmallows and sprinkles to go on their hot chocolate. What’s not to love?!

To make the experience even more fun, we discovered the best music track to go with our trolley – the ‘Chocolate a choco choco’ song! Everyone can’t help but tap their feet when they hear it and it’s now a firm favourite at Hengist!
