We all enjoyed a A fun-filled World Book Day here at Hengist Field Care Home on Thursday 3 March.
This year the day marked its 25th anniversary, celebrating and promoting reading for pleasure all year round.
Our staff and some of our lovely residents dressed up in book-themed costumes – we had some awesome outfits!
We spoke to some of our ladies and gents about their preference in books and which books they’d enjoyed reading; from murder mysteries, all about aircrafts, true life stories to magazines.
We hosted a small buffet in the afternoon to enjoy with a cuppa or a little something stronger if preferred, while our costume prize presentation took place.
Our three prize winners for World Book Day were….drum roll please…
1st prize: Zara as a Rock Chick (which she certainly did rock!)
2nd prize: Trish as The Queen of Hearts (who is always full of love, and loves Jammie Dodgers!)
3rd prize: Hanna as a gorgeous hippie (full of flower power, peace and love!)
Neli presented our winners with their voucher prizes, whilst an audience of our residents and staff clapped and cheered!
A massive well done to everyone who dressed up and made our World Book Day a truly memorable one.
