We had a fun packed day at Hengist Field Care Home on Friday 29 September.
Supporting Macmillan
In the morning we hosted a fantastic Macmillan coffee morning at our Home with some wonderful cakes and pies kindly donated by our local Tesco Express on Chalkwell Road, which we were so grateful for.
Our Chef also made some lovely cakes, shortbread and a gorgeous chocolate cake, for our ‘Guess the weight of the cake‘ competition, which was decorated with fresh fruit and a magnificent mirror glaze. What’s more we had a large food hamper that was crammed full of goodies for our raffle. We had a book sale and brand new hand bag sale, and from the Macmillan pack, we had a ‘Count the caterpillars‘ picture game.
During the morning we raised a grand total of £103, so a huge thank you to our residents, families, team members and visitors who came in to support the event. It was so fantastic to see plenty of conversation, cake eating, and tea and coffee drinking plus lots of laughter!
The winner of our hamper was Donna, a friend who was visiting one of our lovely ladies. The winner of the ‘Guess the weight of the cake’ was our very own Margaret. Both ladies were over the moon!
The money raised has gone to Macmillan Cancer Support – thank you again to everyone who came to support this great cause.
An afternoon with Trevor
After a great Macmillan coffee morning, we finished the day off by welcoming singer, Trev Jones. It was Trevor’s first time at Hengist Field and what a great job he did!
He sang a brilliant selection of songs from Elvis, to Englebert Humperdinck, The Duellers and even some Ska songs. He also sang requested songs which we thoroughly enjoyed.
Trevor was quite the comedian and cheeky chappie too – he got everyone laughing, clapping, waving their arms and singing along.
It was such a fantastic afternoon and he has been requested back by all of our residents, which shows exactly how good he was.
Thank you Trevor, see you soon!
