Hengist Field Care Home residents make halloumi bites

We had a brilliant afternoon last week in our Activities Room at Hengist Field Care Home when we made some halloumi bites during our Cookery Club.

The bites were made with puff pastry; we placed a piece of halloumi and spinach on the pastry, then rolled it up like a sausage roll, finally adding an egg glaze.

We had old songs playing softly in the background and enjoyed lots of banter and laughter as we worked.

Our Chef cooked our creations for us, ready to have with a cuppa.

Whilst waiting for the bites to cook, our residents started talking about Coronation Street and reminiscing about when the series started and all the old characters – Ena Sharples, Mini Caldwell, Albert Tatlock, Annie Walker, Hilda and Stan Ogden and Emily Bishop.

When the halloumi bites were cooked, everyone said how much they enjoyed eating them and how tasty they were. Mmm yummy!
