Fun and fortune cookies at Hengist Field Care Home

The first destination on our virtual Nellsar Cruise was Hong Kong on Friday 12 February at Hengist Field Care Home, which happily coincided with Chinese New Year.

We had two very cheerful visitors who came to say hello to our residents and staff – two fantastic Chinese Dragons made from balloons. They brought a lot of colour and smiles to our residents; a little piece of Hong Kong for everyone to enjoy. Our ladies and gents looked great in their homemade Chinese hats too.

Our residents thoroughly enjoyed a lovely Chinese menu for lunch which featured some delicious dishes including Sweet and Sour Chicken and Ginger Soy Fish. There was plenty of wine, port, sherry and beer to wash it all down (sadly no saki!).

And we had Fortune Cookies galore! Everyone loved opening and eating their fortune cookies (and reading their fortunes of course!) after eating their lovely Chinese meal. No lucky lottery numbers in the fortune cookies though!!

We all had such a fun day celebrating Chinese New Year. Gung Hay fat Choy!
