We enjoyed a lovely afternoon in our lounge this week, chatting, pulling Christmas crackers and reminiscing about past fond memories here at Hengist Field Care Home.
We learnt how the Christmas Cracker evolved and all about the gentleman who invented it – a Mr Tom Smith in 1840. The crackling of logs on an open fire gave him the idea for the explosive mechanism, called the snap!
Everyone enjoyed pulling crackers, putting their hats on, reading the jokes and talking about the little gifts inside, which seemed to spark lots of wonderful childhood memories.
Our residents enjoyed lots of laughter and group conversation – it’s wonderful to feel the festive vibe in our Home.
