Hengist Field Care Home residents cruise to Japan

Continuing on to the last leg of our Nellsar virtual cruise, our Hengist Care Home residents arrived in Japan this week!

We have watched ‘Memoirs of a Geisha‘ and a virtual tour of Japan featuring the stunningly beautiful cherry blossom trees, to really get us in the spirit of this beautiful country.

We made our own cherry blossom tree in our Japanese arts and crafts session, and also painted pictures of blossom trees and koi carp. We even tried making origami koi carp – harder than it looks!

As part of our cruise, we tasted Japanese Matcha Tea and were treated to a delicious Japanese menu from our Head Chef Kay and Kitchen Team:

  • Salmon, ginger and noodle stir fry
  • Teriyaki chicken
  • Purin (Japanese custard pudding)
  • Castella (Japanese sponge cake)

And to top it all, we had so much fun with our inflatable Japanese sumo wrestler suit, which our residents loved – it certainly brought some big smiles to our Home!

What a fantastic cruise to a country full of surprises.
