Coffee Morning visitor at Hengist Field Care Home

In our Coffee Mornings at Hengist Field Care Home, we enjoy leafing through The Weekly Sparkle – doing the quizzes, guessing the famous person, discussing some of the topics and reminiscing together.

At our Coffee Morning on Tuesday 1 August we spoke about our first ever jobs, the age we were and what we did. Quite a few of our ladies said they went fruit or hop picking and shared their stories, which were both fascinating and funny.

We also got on to the subject of scrumping, which everyone seemed to have done at some stage and shared their hilarious stories; getting caught by the farmer, having an accident (not serious) or just saying the fruit tasted better because it has been scrumped!

One of our ladies had visitors and with them was her great-grandson Jacob. He was absolutely the star of the show, enjoying doing part roly polys, giving our residents toy pets to hold and then putting them back on their beds. He was an absolute joy and funny to watch. Our the residents loved him!

Thank you for entertaining us Jacob!
