Burns Night at Hengist Field Care Home

To celebrate Burns Night at Hengist Field Care Home on Wednesday 25 January, we learnt all about Robert Burns, the Scottish poet and lyricist – who he was, what he did and what he was famous for. We also read some of his poems.

Burns Night is organised to honour Burns, who was born on the 25 January 1759. It has been celebrated annually since 1801 to commemorate the life of the famous Scottish bard.

As part of our celebrations, our residents enjoyed a Burns Night supper if they wished, with delicious haggis, ‘neeps’ and ‘tatties‘, followed by a traditional Scottish dessert called Cranachan. They were also offered a whisky, to toast Mr Burns! Cheers!
