{"id":234394,"date":"2023-10-05T11:06:40","date_gmt":"2023-10-05T11:06:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hengist-field.nellsar.com\/?p=234394"},"modified":"2023-10-05T11:08:44","modified_gmt":"2023-10-05T11:08:44","slug":"macmillan-coffee-morning-and-music-with-trevor-at-hengist-field-care-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hengist-field.nellsar.com\/macmillan-coffee-morning-and-music-with-trevor-at-hengist-field-care-home\/","title":{"rendered":"Macmillan coffee morning and music with Trevor at Hengist Field Care Home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>We had a fun packed day at Hengist Field Care Home on Friday 29 September.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Supporting Macmillan<\/h2>\n<p>In the morning we hosted a fantastic <strong>Macmillan coffee morning<\/strong> at our Home with some wonderful <strong>cakes and pies kindly donated by our local Tesco Express<\/strong> on Chalkwell Road, which we were so grateful for.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Our <strong>Chef also made some lovely cakes, shortbread and a gorgeous chocolate cake<\/strong>, for our &#8216;<em>Guess the weight of the cake<\/em>&#8216; competition, which was decorated with fresh fruit and a magnificent mirror glaze. What&#8217;s more we had a large <strong>food hamper<\/strong> that was crammed full of goodies for our raffle. We had a <strong>book sale and brand new hand bag sale<\/strong>, and from the Macmillan pack, we had a &#8216;<em>Count the caterpillars<\/em>&#8216; picture game.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>During the morning <strong>we raised a grand total of \u00a3103<\/strong>, so a <strong>huge thank you to our residents, families, team members and visitors who came in to support the event<\/strong>. It was so fantastic to see plenty of conversation, cake eating, and tea and coffee drinking plus lots of laughter!<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>winner of our hamper was Donna<\/strong>, a friend who was visiting one of our lovely ladies. It was Trevor\u2019s first time at Hengist Field and what a great job he did!<\/p>\n<p>He <strong>sang a brilliant selection of songs<\/strong> from Elvis, to Englebert Humperdinck, The Duellers and even some Ska songs.
