We enjoyed a lovely afternoon in our lounge this week, chatting, pulling Christmas crackers and reminiscing about past fond memories here at Hengist Field Care Home.<\/strong><\/p>\n We learnt how the Christmas Cracker<\/strong> evolved and all about the gentleman who invented it \u2013 a Mr Tom Smith in 1840. The crackling of logs on an open fire gave him the idea for the explosive mechanism, called the snap!<\/p>\n Everyone enjoyed pulling crackers<\/strong>, putting their hats<\/strong> on, reading the jokes<\/strong> and talking about the little gifts<\/strong> inside, which seemed to spark lots of wonderful childhood memories.<\/p>\n Our residents enjoyed lots of laughter and group conversation \u2013 it’s wonderful to feel the festive vibe in our Home<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" We enjoyed a lovely afternoon in our lounge this week, chatting, pulling Christmas crackers and reminiscing about past fond memories here at Hengist Field Care Home.
