World War II Show for Remembrance Day at Hengist Field Care Home

We all enjoyed a wonderful afternoon here at Hengist Field Care Home, remembering the fallen on Remembrance Day.

We hosted singer Jasmine Kittermaster, who came in to sing and perform her fantastic World War II show, to the delight of all our residents.

Everyone waved flags, wore hats and sang along with Jasmine to some great songs – We’ll Meet Again, The White Cliffs of Dover, A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square and many more.

Jasmine also played the very famous speech by Winston Churchill, where he declared that the war was over; we all cheered, clapped and continued to sing at the top of our voices!

A brilliant afternoon as always – thank you Jasmine.

In Flanders Fields

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses; row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders Fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders Fields.

By Dr John McCrae
