It was a sad but lovely day here at Hengist Field Care Home on Monday 19 September for the Queen’s funeral.
Our residents chose to have a rolling buffet all day and selected the food they preferred, which included:
Potato salad
Salmon and cucumber hors d’oeuvres
Homemade coleslaw
Crusty bread and pate
Spring rolls
Chicken fillets
Sweet treats
It was such a lovely spread and everyone commented how wonderful it looked and tasted.
We set up a large table in our lounge, so our residents could watch the whole funeral without moving into our dining room. We had our drinks trolley set up too, offering sherry, beer, wine, Pimm’s and lemonade and soft drinks for everyone.
Our residents’ families also joined us to share this moment in history with their loved ones.
