On Wednesday 16 September we were excited to set up an Old Fashioned Sweet Cart experience for our lovely residents.
It took a couple of weeks to collect the sweets from various vintage sweet shops, to make the experience as realistic as possible, and it was well worth it!
The sweets included, Parma Violets, Coconut Tobacco, Bon Bons, Liquorice Sticks, Jelly beans, Pontefract Cakes, Caramac, Chocolate Mice, Cough Candy, Flying Saucers and many more!
We took the cart around our Home, on to all three Units and lounges, giving all of our ladies and gents the opportunity to choose some sweets, which we put into little sweet bags for them (making sure all our residents’ dietary requirements were adhered to).
We decorated the cart with vintage bunting and vintage sweet signs – it looked brilliant! Our residents said it was a lovely idea and gave them a chance to reminisce in such a fun way.
