Hengist Field Care Home residents enjoy music from Keely and nesting blue tits

Singer Keely Cook

To kick off our Platinum Jubilee week here at Hengist Field Care Home, we invited singer Keely Cook to our Home to sing for our residents.

She put on a wonderful show and sang a selection of fantastic songs including Pretty Woman, Twist and Shout, Great Balls of Fire, Stupid Cupid, Hound Dog and many more classics.

Everyone had such a great time singing along, waving their arms and clapping to the music.

An absolutely fantastic afternoon – thank you Keely!

Jubilee menus

As part of our Jubilee preparations, our Kitchen Team has created a wonderful set of Platinum Jubilee Menus, running from Wednesday through to Sunday.

They feature some of the Queen’s favourites, including:

Royal roast pork
Hunter’s chicken
Mushroom stroganoff
Old English favourite fish and chips
Beef in red wine
Eton mess
Royal fruit salad
Queen’s Nutella cheesecake
Queen’s favourite pickle cheese scones

We’re sure all of our residents will royally enjoy their meals and celebrations!

Thank you to our Chef and Kitchen staff for all their hard work – we can’t wait to see their creations!

Nesting blue tits

Here at Hengist Field we have been keeping an eye on some nesting blue tits in our garden.

The adult birds built the nest and laid, we think, five or six eggs – so we have been watching them since they hatched, grow into chicks and be constantly fed by their hardworking parents.

We managed to get a picture of them on Saturday, then by Monday they have all flown the nest!

It’s amazing how quickly the babies grew from tiny featherless chicks, to how they are in the picture – all within approximately five weeks. How lovely!

We are looking forward to them returning next year.
