Charity fundraising and special birthdays at Hengist Field Care Home

Knit and natter with Father John

Hengist Field Care Home residents and staff enjoyed a visit from Father John last week, who helped out with the community fundraising effort for St Peter and St Paul Church in Borden.

Members of the church and some of our residents are busy knitting poppies in the lead up the 100th anniversary of Remembrance. We are aiming to have 1,918 poppies knitted in time for November to place inside the church as a tribute to form a beautiful and moving display.

Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee Morning

We had a fantastic coffee morning on Friday 28 September raising an amazing £374 for Macmillan Cancer Support. The Kitchen Team baked a yummy fruit cake for a “Guess the Weight of the Cake” competition, and along with many other freshly-made and donated cakes, residents and visitors sipped on tea and coffee while nibbling sweet treats.

Thank you very much to everyone who joined in with our “World’s Biggest Coffee Morning” at the Hengist Field helping to raise for this great cause.

Happy birthday Paula!

Staff and residents celebrated our Dining Assistant Paula’s 50th birthday last week. She was very pleased to receive gifts of cake, flowers and bubbly. Happy birthday Paula!
