Meeting Barney the super dog!
On Monday 6 September, Barney the dog came to visit Hengist Field Care Home to say hello to all our residents.
Barney is stunning golden Labrador, who has been trained to give comfort and support to those who need it. He is a fully trained Therapy Dog who specialises in helping children with autism and special needs. He is able to calm children down when they are struggling to cope with situations they are unable to deal with.
Lucky for us, Barney had the afternoon off to give us some of his time. With a little help from our Ellie, he went all around our Home to give out some much appreciated ‘puppy love’. Come back soon Barney!
Technology bringing families together
Due to the COVID pandemic and the restrictions we’ve faced, technology has come to save the day!
It can be quite challenging if you’re not used to it, however over time our residents have really embraced new ways of communicating.
When all Home visits were cancelled, the only contact our families could have was by phone call and Skype. A lot of our residents hadn’t even heard of Skype, yet now they are Skype superstars!
Here are Carole and Marie; they were both unsure of the Skyping world, but now they look forward to their weekly calls with their families.
